August 2022

Kaari Aubrey is a writer, publisher, educator with over a decade of design, facilitation, & startup experience, who uses creative management and communication skills to curate experiences that promote empathy, organization, growth, and authentic, sustained joy.

A proud native of Southeastern Louisiana, Kaari completed her first 6 years of schooling in Ghana, and the rest of middle and high school in Columbus, Ohio, and Phoenix, Arizona. She is an alumna of  Arizona State University (BAE, 2014) and Columbia University (MAT, 2017). Having taught for over 12 years in Arizona, New York, Louisiana, and Hawai'i, Kaari has a diverse and varied perspective of cultural landscapes across the United States, as well as around the globe. Her acute listening and observation skills inform her curation and facilitation style.

Kaari's passion for creating and publishing our stories is fueled by craving a cannon of contemporary Afrofuturist art, similar to what Kehinde Wiley does with Black Rock Senegal, and what Magic & Melanin does for African diasporan artists. A space where marginalized artists can dream of a future, unlimited by flawed social constructs and institutions. Octavia Butler is the first author who made her feel the real possibility of this future.

In 2022, Kaari published four personal growth books, authoring the first two, through her Octavia Butler-inspired publishing company, the Other Suns Arts Collective.

"I cannot think of a better way to honor my Afrofuturist fave than by publishing the stories we 'write to create [our]selves.' Other Suns is a flexible, living body & will expand as nature & creativity require. Our imaginations + futures are limitless."

Kaari Aubrey's overarching mission is to champion writing as a transformative tool, inspiring individuals to transmute personal adversities into a force for positive change. Her unwavering commitment revolves around fostering authenticity, efficiency, inclusivity, and sustainability within organizations, steering them towards more enlightened and purpose-driven trajectories.
